There is a temporary GST/HST break between December 14, 2024 to February 15, 2025. During this tax break there will be no GST or HST (whichever applies in your province or territory) will be charged on specific items.

This provides an opportunity for big savings for Canadians during a time where it is greatly appreciated!

We've provided a list of applicable product categories:

  • Food

  • Beverages

  • Restaurants, catering, and other food or drink establishments

  • Children's clothing and footwear

  • Children's diapers

  • Children's car seats

  • Children's toys

  • Jigsaw puzzles

  • Video games consoles, controllers, and physical video games

  • Physical books

  • Printed newspapers

  • Christmas and similar decorative trees

How to get this tax break on your purchases

There are only two factors:

  • Product is paid for in full between December 14, 2024 and February 15, 2025

  • Product is delivered between December 14, 2024 to February 15, 2025

If you have been charged GST/HST during this time and you believe it to be a mistake, you should:

  • Keep your receipt

  • Request a refund of the GST/HST from the seller
